Psalms 23:

The Lord is my shepherd;

There is nothing I lack.

He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name’s sake.Image result for Still water

Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff- they comfort me.

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of YHVH as long as I live.

Psalms 50

If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world and everything in it is Mine.

Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?  Sacrifice a thank offering to Elohim, and pay your vows to The Most High.  Call on Me in a day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor Me.

But Elohim says to the wicked: ” What right do you have to recite my statutes and take My covenant on your lips?  You hate instruction and turn your back on My words.

When you see a thief you make friends with him, and associate with adulterers.

You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.

You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother’s son.Image result for the power of the mind

You have done these things and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you.  But I will rebuke you and lay you out the case before you.

Understand this you who forgets Elohim, or I will tear you apart, and there will be no rescuer.

Whoever sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of Elohim.”

The first Psalm is a beautiful recounting of a Shepherd boy and his relationship to YHVH.  Surely the boy recognizes chastisement as a good thing, and loves Elohim for divesting the enemy of power against him.  But why?  Why does Elohim give the boy power over his ememies?

The second Psalm describes Elohim’s relationship to the bulk of His people.  It is commonplace in Israel to bring sacrifices during feasts and special events.  It would be wierd not to.  Elohim says here that it is both good and bad to bring him offerings.  Does that mean one man can be both good and bad in bringing an offering?  No! Cain and Able both brought offerings to YHVH, but only one of them was acceptable.  This is a Psalm, not from a righteouss man to Elohim, but prophetic pleadings from Elohim to an unrighteous man.  <The Son of Man did not come to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him>

Has conviction found its way into your heart?  It feels terrible, but stop fighting it and bring an acceptable offering unto The Mighty Ones.

Prayer:  The Lord is our Shepherd and in Him we shall find peace.  In Him we shall not be found wanting.  With His great word we learn how to better serve and praise Him.

Post:  In Mark Ch. 5 Jesus meets a man possessed with many demons.  There are a few things we can highlight and then we can read, asking the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts for the day.

  • First, when the legion asks, no begs, Jesus to send them into the swine He obliges.  The devil can play some nasty mind games with us.  Jesus obeying the request of a legion of demons is peculiar considering that the average person would feel vituperative towards the enemy.
  • Secondly, we can take note that many times up until now when people knew or realized that Jesus is the Son of God He would ask them to keep it on the down low.  In this case He does not make that request.
  • Another highlight is the people begging Jesus to leave their town.  What!?   He cures a man of incredible affliction and their reaction is fear?  They say “please leave”.  How would we react if He came to our town and started to do things that showed such great power?  Would we want for Him to turn our lives into something completely different?
  • Lastly, let us see that the man who was possessed really wanted for to go with Jesus and stay with Him.  The man wanted to follow Jesus.  Jesus refused.  Interesting.

Mark 5; 1-20:

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.  And when He was come out of the ship, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.  And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.  But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped Him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of The Most High God? I adjure Thee by God, that Thou torment me not.  For he said unto Him, come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.  And He asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, my name is legion: for we are many.  And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.  Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.  And all the devils besought Him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.  And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.  And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.  And they come to Jesus, and see Him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in His right mind: and they were afraid.  And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.  And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.  And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.  Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.  And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

Ahoy, Maytees and shiver mee timbers on this fine May day.  Please pray for me to plug back into my communities’ bible studies, prayer groups, and God loving people’s daily schedules.  Please pray for my friend’s knees and ankles and May God bless you richly for having Him on the forefront of your mind.

Spiritual life is like being in a large room filled with pillars that are holding glasses.  some glasses are filled with water and others are not.  You go to one and drink from it with the others who are drinking from that glass and you are filled.  Now able to relate with the others who are drinking from that glass you have a social connection and you stick around for a few months or a few years.  Eventually the glass stops filling you.

A little scared and a little excited about a new experience you change your group, your social structure, and drift to another pillar holding another glass.  after many decades you have tried most all of the glasses.

Some podiums you have avoided because the people around those podiums obviously are not happy.  You remember being filled at other podiums, and knowing you will not be filled properly you go anyway because it is all you know.  There is one podium that is said to bring a life full of love and joy and peace.  Unfortunately the people who drink from that cup have heavy burdens to bear.  You start to think about maybe jumping into that group as you have tried everything else.  In studying those who have drank from that cup you notice that although their burdens are great they seem content and balanced.  How can this be?

Although they are living within the burden the cup’s life is living within them.  It created them, all the other cups, and the burdens for each of the people carrying those burdens.  The life in the cup has prepared the drinker to handle those burdens.  The burdens will completely crush them if they stray from that cup.  All of the people who drink from the cup of life struggle to not return to the other cups in the room which is why the cup of life has designed the burdens they begin bearing to be heavy enough to crush them if they stray to another cup.

You decide it is time to try that cup.  You learn that you must give everything to this cup and with some resistance and doubt you give it a try.  You feel contentment, peace, an overwhelming wave of self awareness shows you who you really were and who you can be.  You feel filthy, ashamed, exposed, but somehow you are being loved capriciously and abundantly for it.  Over time the spiritual being that is in the cup weaves itself into you and you begin to see the other podiums for what they really are and you slowly become an unwelcome guest to each of them for any extended period of time.  All you want is for the people who are attending the other podiums to have the fullness of life that you are experiencing.  The cup of life you are drinking from changes your thought patterns and you become truly content (having God’s peace) in any situation and under any circumstance.  You are happy knowing that you have eternal life and a place in forever to pass into when you shed your flesh to free your spirit to Jesus Christ.

The Power of The Tongue and it’s Affect On The World

Know that I am seeking to do Jesus’ will so most of this should be from Him and is learned through praying and setting my mind on scripture and the lessons we can learn from Him.

Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 15:1 – A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

James 3:6 – And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Proverbs 25:15 – By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.

Proverbs 12:18 – There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.

James 3:8 – But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

We can’t tame our tongues, However if we are in a state of believing, Jesus has our tongues.  There are about a few hundred verses where God tells us how powerful words are: !

Many times when we are chit chatting in a large group we tend to tell stories.  Sometimes elaborate and completely false. other times there are bits and pieces of truth to them.  It is interesting, though, when a person is able to speak in such a way that his/her words will weave into what is occurring in life.  This can be attributed to the mysterious structure of the world around us and the experienced power that the tongue may sometimes have over that structure.  God made us with a tongue that does have the power to affect the physical and spiritual world.

The process I am about to share is quite simple, and when applied to life will make it more meaningful in whatever way God created you to feel meaning;  This being either through adventure, meeting people, mission working, raising children, etc.  The power of the tongue can be made more powerful (I presume this.  It might not be in scripture, however is learned through experience) if the reverberations it is sending into the world come from a river of consciousness that is speaking truly.  It can be used powerfully both to curse and to bless those here on earth with you.

If this process were a math equation it would look like this:

words that are lies = some power

words that are truth = more power

words that are truth + that truth being rooted in action from God = awesome grace

Read on and it may make more sense.  This occurrence is one of those things we sometimes notice but are never really sure if others are aware it’s going on or even that they are doing it.  This is because it is one of those unspoken things that happens here on earth.  If you are just now starting to notice this or have never noticed this occurrence let this be a warning.  Watching this power take hold around you is scary and the more you notice it the scarier it gets.  It will make you draw nearer to God though and His grace will flood the path you are on that He is creating for you.

Anyone can receive a blessing.  Take comfort in knowing that no one who does not deserve a curse can receive one.  That is scripture. ( Proverbs 26:2 open up your Bible and check it out)   So if you are in the midst of seeing this power take hold in your life and you are running around trying to defend yourself from the evil about you by bending your actions and words to defeat evil; know that the best defense is to do everything in your power to love Our Father In Heaven.  This key in life lays foundation for everything.

Everyone struggles with their faith (see post on faith).  However, the more time you spend believing, the more righteousness you receive.  The more righteousness you accept into your life by allowing yourself to be softened in order to be molded into a new person the more powerful God’s grace is within you. (that is my personal experience)

Important note:  God is powerful, we are weak and filthy.  If we allow God to receive the glory of our actions by humbling ourselves when He acts through us the more tightly and fully intertwined He is in a life.  That is a key in building blocks of faith.  Humbling oneself when you have every opportunity to take credit and pride brings you closer to Jesus.

Back to the power of the tongue and living in such a way as to store up articles in your “file cabinet of truth”.  Check this out:  If you believe in Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and put a serious effort towards believing in Him (putting forth the effort will slowly take hold in your life once you believe in Him.  The believing in Him will also give you a desire to repent.  You know this already, I am sure because you are reading this.  Praise God!) then He will be with you more often than not.

So this is where things get really supernatural.  If you go out today and live in prayer, with Jesus on the mind and Love from Him in your heart, than your actions will be backed up by the power of the Creator!  Now if something happens that is really worth talking about remember that experience.  If this is your first experience where your intention was to do God’s work by believing and acting on what that belief tells you then you have added your first article to God’s “file cabinet of truth” (you have to say that with a loud low echoing voice, haha) inside of you.  The cabinet tends to grow and grow and grow.  Then, one day, you’re in a situation where you can pull from “God’s file cabinet of truth” and weave an article into a conversation among friends. ( yes, God’s cabinet.  Yes, that does mean that God and you share something because it is your “file cabinet of truth”. righteous, right?  oh yeahhhh )

Hopefully it will be used as a tool to build a brother or sister up, or maybe to help a hateful person to feel love. Not in a “look at me show you how you love somebody” kind of way, but in a way where you are just trying to love them.  Genuinely from inside of you trying to show them love and favor, without thinking about changing who they are.  Hateful people have trouble accepting genuine love.  They deserve love and it is a challenge to stay loving and balance being still loving and stern in a relationship with a person filled with hate.  If you are a hateful person, you may want to consider putting a few months aside to forgive people (yes, it takes a few months of unfolding the facets of forgiveness to start a truly healing process for some of us) who are close or were close to you.  Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting it to hurt the person you are grudging against.

So on the day that you are throwing this article of truth on the table in front of friends you have Jesus on the forefront of your mind.  On the day that God and you created that article together you had Jesus there with you helping to guide your actions and words;  It all comes together in a symphony of power worthy, maybe of the intercession of angels; because you are allowing God to work through the power of the tongue that He created and gave you.  Something miraculous may occur, something really subtle may occur, nothing may occur right then and there but it will affect you or someone somewhere the way that God intends for them to be affected.  It is key to not accept the favor only in the name of Christ and ensure that others understand it is God working.  It is key for you also to understand that you are powerless without Him.

Love fills the room, people aren’t feeling rebuked, maybe something mysterious is even happening.  As time slips on people who have ears to hear and eyes to see will most definitely take note of how powerfully God used you to affect the world around you.  Bringing you and others further into the fold of God’s Love.  People may even think its too coincidental, considering factors like the unlikelihood of  the article and the way it is tying into life, for it to be truthful;  However, it doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you’re a worker for the Lord and are leading a life filled with meaning and meaningful experiences that is pleasing to The Lord.

A bull shot story that is being told by someone just to help keep life from being mundane holds the power of an firecracker.  A truthful story holds more power than that.  An article, though, an article has angels.  Powerful spiritual beings who work for the creator of the universe backing it up.  It will surely leak into the future as God sees fit.  Furthermore, the bull shot story is lying and a lie may be a seed or a branch to a tree being grown that will bear evil fruit.  When you are living for God, your active believing is helping grow trees in you that bear fruit that is pleasing to The One Who Created The Universe.

Faith is many things and I will be adding to this category as I learn what it is.

First off lets see what The Bible has to say about faith.  Many verses are written about it and when put into context and studied with a believing heart will shape you into a person you will love more and is more suitable to be in the presence of God.

Hebrews 11:1-

In my recent faith I have found that it is much easier to be in a relationship with somebody I can believe is real.  How don you feel about this?

In John Ch. 1 John writes that the Word is God.  We won’t ever be able to prove God wrong.  A way that my faith has increased so much further than I would have thought possible is through reading Scripture with a mind that knows it all is the truth.  Understanding this is the starting point because you can change the way you think about the world around you and how to react to it based on bending your brain to support the idea that things in the Bible support each other.  It tells us that

.  So, when your carnal mind is telling you that scriptures are being contradictory it is time to snuggle up with Our Father so that we may be in which is .  Those scriptures are in Romans chapter 8.

Trying to prove scripture wrong is an act supported by evil.  It sounds innocent enough; However, with God being the Word if you successfully prove Him wrong than you would in human terms build yourself to His status or greater than His status or whatever.  Proving the scriptures wrong is an act that comes from a prideful place.  God wants us to be humble in everything that we do: healing, learning, filling others with grace, and helping one another to sharpen our faith.  If we cast a mountain into the sea with faith we must be humble about it.

(If you do successfully convince yourself and others that you have proven a scripture to be wrong or contradictory you may appear to be right in the reality supported by the structure of language.  In the structure of the physical and the spiritual reality you’re very sick and need to ask God for forgiveness.  Then you need to  ask God to help you to believe in His Son Jesus. Then as an act of humbling yourself to Him go get baptized. Baptized again if you haven’t yet had a baptism in which you followed the actions leading to a baptism that the scriptures encourage.  It shows Jesus your personally making a decision to put Him in control of you)

Reading something in The Bible, with a heart of pride, that sounds like it is contradicting itself such as Revelation Ch. 22 verses 10 and 18 and 19 we immediately jump to the conclusion that The Bible is defunct.  If It is defunct there might not be Jesus.  That would put us in a position where we are greater than all of existence on Earth and need not humble ourselves.  When our minds see a contradiction in the Bible, know that it is an opportunity for you to communicate with Your Creator.  The goal is to find out how it is not contradictory through reading and studying the scriptures.  Keep Jesus and those scriptures on the forefront of your mind, all day, until God answers.

The question How is a very powerful tool in strengthening ones Faith and we are about to learn why.  The Bible is not a fairy tale and no part of it is to be overlooked.  It is easy for us to overlook certain parts of the Bible that seem fantastical.  That is a tool the enemy uses in order to keep us from Jesus.  The enemy knows that worldwide the Bible is regarded as truth.  This creates a psychological conundrum that applies to life in modern day society.  The conundrum is that we don’t believe that fantastical things can happen in reality because we don’t experience them.  We know the Bible is true and powerful and when we read something in it that seems unlikely we just kind of jump over it without fighting against it or accepting it.  Its like our minds put a blank spot there where we don’t pay it any mind.   So when we read about Jesus walking around performing miracles such as not eating or drinking for forty days we believe it.  When we read about Jonah in the belly of the whale we are like really?  that’s not possible.  Throwing that sheet over our minds where we don’t really believe in a particular part of the Bible without really noticing it is the enemy using the power of the Bible to his advantage.

This Bible, especially the new testament, is all about how Jesus handles situations.  The wisdom he holds.  The friends He has and the council He keeps.  You can read Jesus like book.  because He is a Book.  the things He did and wants the world to know about are in a Book for the world to study.  study so that you can know who He is.

Sit down for 20 minutes and say a prayer that is appropriate to your true relationship with Jesus.  The one that no one knows about ( MAYBE NOT EVEN YOU) no matter how deep into a relationship you may seem to be by the words you say to other believers;  but the relationship that your mind wont let your heart see.  There is no shame in saying you’re in a deeper relationship than you really are ( well kinda, but its a defense mechanism or a tool pride is using to put you in control using the name of Jesus so you wont have your christian friends preaching at you).  People like to convict and devour one another through making them feel small.  A great way to combat that is to make yourself holier than them.  This is also a great way for Satan’s armies to keep you away from the truth.  It makes you believe in a relationship that is not there yet.  Keeping you from God is Satan’s job and it pertains to all alive.  In christian circles everyone agrees that we believe in our savior Jesus Christ and the power of the cross.  The truth is that Satan is using the words in our mouths to trick our minds and hearts into thinking that we really do believe.  If you say you don’t believe than you can imagine christians looking at you like your the spawn of a demon.  Saying you don’t believe is actually the beginning of creating a true relationship.  admit to yourself you say you believe but you don’t always believe.  Then start trying to believe.  (This sounds terrible, but read the entry on the first sign or miracle in the book of John and it will help.)

We are all in this battle together and the believing rapist, the believing murderer and the believing adulterer are all equal to one another.  Some of us who can humble ourselves in the works Jesus performs through us may have more grace, but we are still equal to the 15 year old cashier at wal-mart and to David Jeremiah (an amazing preacher).

Sit down for 20 minutes and ask Jesus to show you what it means.  What all this relationship with Jesus jibber-jabber that Jesus freaks are always talking about is.  Or if you already have a relationship with Him ( I mean really have a base in scripture that has allowed you to fumble yourself to Him) than ask your friend Jesus to soften your mind and heart to ready yourself to carry the yoke of some of his wisdom that will better bring you into the fold of Jesus’ Love.  The spiritual yoke Jesus has for us is different for each of us and should be worn with contentment like a general wears his pins given to Him by his country.  Same thing, minus the pride.  Be content in the sea of humble.  Be comfortable feeling small.  Praise Jesus when you are being convicted, it tells you you are getting another chance to give your sin to Jesus on the cross and change who you are to spend more time believing in Him.  Unless you truly believe in the cross you cant truly send your sin to it.

Now that you have said a prayer whether it took 30 seconds or 30 minutes.  open up the gospel (or any book) and study the whole darn thing.  Or at least one chapter.  try to get through the whole darn thing in a few weeks or whatever fits your schedule and the length of the Book.  I started in Ruth.  because it is short.

Studying scripture is not for the matter of regurgitating words to fellow believers in order to prove you or your friends are right.  That spirit of contention is evil.  People with misguided thoughts in the Bible will become better guided through prayer and scripture reading and being around people they trust and would be less apt to argue with.  Have faith God will work with a person you know wont accept truth that contradicts what they are saying and concentrate on the truth they are saying.  Pray for them and do what God tells you to do, not what you tell you to do.

Studying scripture is so that you can place yourself into the story and imagine the social network of that story.  The implications of the words and actions of the people in the story, and how in the heck that story made it into Sacred Scripture when there are billions of all the stories in history.  Ask yourself, why is that story there, what is Jesus trying to do in my life right now through this story; and how is this going to change who I am to make me a more suitable bride for Christ Jesus.  Be a little selfish, those lessons are for you, not your neighbor.  Your relationship with Jesus is like intimacy with your spouse.  It is ok to boast about it.  Telling others how to “do it”, not so ok.  unsolicited advice is annoying.

In closing Faith can be built in your life by spending time with Jesus a few times a month alone.  pray to Him.  open the book knowing that it is true.  God helping you to understand how it is true is part of deepening your faith.  Don’t just study it, try to get a deep and full understanding of it.  ask questions and endure.  This will help you in your personal walk with Jesus.  He is trying to change you.  Leave changing your friends and the people you care about to Him.  His job is to be there when they come to Him to be changed.  He cant be there as much if your trying to change someone else.  He is trying to change you.  its ok to be scared because when you act differently than normal people react in ways you aren’t ready for and that is uncomfortable and can be scary.  God loves you and wants you to be more like Him.  Try to change and base those changes on the belief that you have earned through time spent in prayer and reading about who He is in the Bible.

Note:  I support evangelizing.  People need to hear the gospel and traveling with the goal of sharing the gospel is noble if you are doing it for Jesus.  not for you or your family or to bring any human pride.  to bring glory to Jesus is the way any evangelizing can be from a righteous heart and fully pleasing to Jesus.

Prayer:  Lord Christ, we hand our hearts and minds to You.  We ask that you humble us and soften our hearts in order that we may grow closer to the garden that is Your word, Your truth, Your life, Your love, an abundance of all these things that will strengthen our spiritual shield of faith.

Post: In John chapter three we learn a lot.  Jesus had been working mentally and spiritually very hard in order to grab the attention of the pharisees.

  • “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”>

He had that attention and one of them, Nicodemus, was softened and ready for the master to teach him (or maybe he was sent as a spy).  When Nicodemus came to Jesus it was by night, in secret so he probably was coming on his own accord in order to gain spiritual wisdom.  The message that so perfectly sums up the gospel was given to Nicodemus.  An immense amount of knowledge was passed from Jesus to Nicodemus that night.

What an incredible honor for Nicodemus to have received such knowledge from the Son of God.  The love of Christ continues to abound in Nicodemus’s life as before Jesus leaves for Galilee John goes into Judea teaching all the people the same message.

Note the tense of that particular script: “has” is present tense.  We are not running around heaping up merit for ourselves in order that we have this everlasting life after death only, but that we may have it presently.  Because Jesus came to give us life, and to give us life more abundantly.( Post on The Abundance of Life )  Because as we believe, our old man who is living a dowie form of life dies and, we are risen with Christ.

We shed the partial truths the world teaches us about life.  These are the laws of death that unbeliever’s live within.  Believers can live true life above the laws of sin and death.  We live in The Son, The Prince of Peace, The Son of God,  The Bridge that brings us from living death to, true life away from God’s wrath.

This post is dedicated to John Hilbers who is sick.  Let us pray all together that it be in The Father’s will that he be humbled and healed.
