Have you ever been in New York City and seen one of those tables filled with fake Gucci and Armada? They look and feel the same as the real thing. What percentage of that purse is different than the real thing? What percentage of that purse had to be made to look real for the maker to be able to sell it?
We live in a world that is always requiring obedience of us. And we for the most part have little choice but to be obedient. The truth is that we are being obedient to a world that has counterfeited truths, emotions, things we sense, hear, see, touch, life itself.
What percentage of love might be the same as the real thing? <The carnal mind is enmity against God.> And get this. Really ask for the Holy Spirit to bring you to see the depth of the truth of this verse: <Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.> Have you ever heard some one say I couldn’t do that even if I wanted to?
The carnal mind is in the possession of Satan and he uses just enough of the real thing to keep us from seeking the real thing. We humans cannot discern Satan’s tricks from God’s truths. They, sometimes are so close we can’t tell. That is a reason why we need to be seeking Christ all the time; because He will guide us as we love Him with all we have.
Imagine a brain that knows how to do a job. For example: somebody who is a secretary and a darn good one. If any of us could be allowed to see into that secretary’s mind then we would be great secretaries. Now stick with me in this thought as we read that sin brings shame. Shame is very powerful, maybe more powerful than love. Maybe not.
It, though, is a wedge that keeps us from God and therefore is a tool of evil (we learn that in Genesis after Adam and Eve eat the apple and run from God in shame because they did wrong and knew it). It being a tool of evil and driving us away from God is the reason that the crucifixion saves us. God sent His Son who took on the sin of the world so that we can not be ashamed to come to Our Father. Christ’s mind is subject to the law of God, Yaweh. Christ’s mind is free from death and is free from sin. We are invited to peer into Christ’s mind:
- <Finally, all of you, be like-minded,>
- <then make my joy complete by being like-minded>
- <but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.>
- <Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.>
Those each are telling us to be of one mind. How? Saved individuals are graced with the honor of thinking with the mind of Christ. Not with our own minds because our own minds are carnal and cannot be subject to the laws that God chose to govern His kingdom. ( Persecution ) He has goals for His people. He has motivations for His people. When we choose Him over the world and/or when He is merciful towards us, we aren’t aligned with His thoughts and motivations, His thoughts and motivations are put in us. It is up to us to choose to walk in those choices so we can continue to be used by Him.
That’s big. A lot of people can be centered around one idea. A group can be centered around one goal. But to be centered around one entire mind? How? How can many people be united in one mind?
Believers constellate around the mind of Christ. He draws us to His mind. Because He came to give us life, and to give it more abundantly. As believers we see that the life we get from Him is truth and abundance.
